Level 2 Dog Training
Further skills for your perfect pup
After graduating from the Level 1 Dog Training class, you have a choice of activities. You can teach your dog anything from basic good manners, to more complex exercises and (off-lead) heelwork. These can be achieved via our Level 2 Dog Training and all subsequent obedience classes that follow our initial Level 1 Dog Training class. Continued attendance will enable you to try competitive obedience and/or qualifying obedience which include 'Canine Good Citizen', 'Rally-O' and 'Companion Dog' assessments. North Shore Dog Training Club offers full training for all standards of both competitive and qualifying obedience.
You may also have an interest in pursuing some of the Club's other activities, like agility, flygility or a tricks class. Your dog must have a good standard of basic skills for all of these activities, so many of our members choose to multi-task and carry on with these advanced dog obedience classes at the same time.
Can I go straight into these classes?
If you have done an introductory course elsewhere and you wish to join one of our advanced dog training groups, please contact us to arrange an assessment with the Obedience Coordinator. After an assessment, you will be placed into an appropriate class that meets you and your dog's skill level. Be aware however, that because of differing dog training organisations’ methods and/or standards, you may be required to complete our Level 1 Dog Training class, in which case, you will need to go on to the waiting list for the next course – remember one starts every nine weeks.
Below are a couple of documents to download that may be of use if you are thinking of either competing or attempting to qualify your dog.
